V. Raman Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for BioSystems Science and Engineering (BSSE) at IISc Bangalore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interdisciplinary field of biological physics \u2014 analytical and computational techniques of physics being applied to model different biological systems\/processes to unravel its underlying mechanisms \u2014 has fascinated me for long.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During my PhD days in the department of Physics at IIT Madras, with Prof. Manoj Gopalakrishnan as my supervisor, I studied biophysical problems related to signal transduction and its relation to motility characteristics of <em>E. coli<\/em>. Thereafter, I joined as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the department of Physics and Astronomy at Purdue University. With Dr. Andrew Mugler, I explored a generic model on the migratory behavior of a collection of cells, specifically, studied the effects of intercellular adhesion in migration of multicellular clusters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And at BSSE, my overarching aim is to develop a model that integrates the essential biophysical features of heterogeneous cell migration, makes predictions for experimental data on epithelial mesenchymal transitions during cancer metastasis, and has the potential to reveal design principles for more effective therapeutic strategies which can prevent disease propagation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My Recent Publications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Effects of cell-cell adhesion on collective migration of multicellular clusters. <strong>Ushasi Roy <\/strong>and Andrew Mugler. <em>arXiv:2007.04550 <\/em>(2020).&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2007.04550\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DOI<\/a><\/li><li>Statistics of correlated percolation in a bacterial community.
