Gowri Manohari Balachander
Assistant Professor, School of Biomedical Engineering, IIT (BHU), Varanasi.
Experience at BE:It was an amazing experience! BSSE gave the opportunity to interact with people from varied backgrounds and thought processes. The standards were high and it was a steep learning curve but the amazing set of people made it all a lot of fun. As the first batch there was a lot of experimentation, but most of the Professors were kind and we enjoyed the attention. Happy hours, book discussion, freshers’ orientation and outings made it thoroughly enjoyable. The concept of two supervisors and labs, although not workable for everyone, gave me a lot of exposure and knowledge. I owe a large part of my academic training to BSSE and the opportunities it gave me.

Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Sciences, IIT Goa
Experience at BE: BE was a life-altering experience. Coming from a pure engineering background, I learnt a lot about biology, but more importantly how to use my engineering skills in studying biological systems and for building tools/methods for biology. I had great mentors and peers and together we shaped the department like a family.
