Abstract: Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, DGAFMS, will deliver the Rinti Banerjee Memorial Endowment Lecture at IISc, Bangalore, marking a pivotal moment as IISc moves towards establishing its medical college. Drawing upon her distinguished journey through the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), she will reflect on the AFMS’s mission-oriented medical care, combat readiness, specialized training at AFMC, research, and digitization. The lecture will explore AFMS’s operational challenges—from modular field hospitals to drone deliveries and NGS-enabled diagnostics—and underscore the critical role of women in uniform. The lecture will also highlight the synergy between IISc and AFMS in biomedical innovation, high-altitude medicine, AI-driven health interventions, and capacity building, aiming to envision a collaborative future where state-of-the-art medical education and defence healthcare coalesce for the nation’s progress.
